This adorable Steiff teddy bear is made of blond mohair fur with black stitched nose and brown glass eyes. His body is firmly stuffed. His arms and legs are jointed and his head swivels. Paw pads are made of felt. He wears a metal studded blue leather collar with a large round brass bell attached. This bear is a replica of a bear produced by Steiff in 1930. He has a charming open mouthed smile, long arms and a slight hump on his back like the antique Steiff bear he replicates.
Teddy Baby has all his tags: a round paper chest tag, gold tone ear button with a yellow fabric flag label, a paper booklet which describes the history of the Teddy Bear and the long time connection to the Steiff Company in Germany.
Bear was made in West Germany.
Teddy Bear measures approximately 14" tall.
According to the German book, "Steiff Sortiment 1947 - 1999" by Gunther Pfeiffer, these antique replica bears with this ID number, "0176/35" were only made between 1985 - 1986. He was made for the American market and doesn't include a squeaker in his chest.
This Teddy Baby was a well cared for part of a Kansas City doll collectors estate. He was displayed in an enclosed glass cabinet. He has an especially nice face and expression. He is very clean, no dust or bug damage. There is no fading. No marks or stains. No smokey odors. No open seams. Please inspect photos.
